Delicious Pasta

Delicious food are more enjoyable, not necessarily  expensive, but they need fresh and good ingredients.   I cooked a very simple pasta, and it was so delicious, the dressing was only sautéed fresh tomato and fresh herb garlic chives.  If we have pasta, we enjoy the pasta on its own, or can be  followed by a meat dish which is served with a salad.

Delicious Alsatian Cake

Easter is coming, and I have been trying to a bake rich bread with fruits which is served for Easter.  I thought the Alsatian cake would be delicious instead of brioche, as I did last Easter.

I tasted, and it was so delicious, buttery and moist too.  It does not look attractive but after it is dusted with icing powder, it looked better.  I don’t share the recipe just yet, it is not perfect as I did not have almonds for the garnished.  However it was so Delicious to go with black coffee.

Delicious Pizza

Pizza is the most friendly food, everyone likes it.  As you like it pizza that I baked the other day,  was so delish.  We had a delicious pizza when we were in Italy, it was very simple pizza, there were not enough topping I thought, but it was the way they do it over there.   Here in Australia we a custom to have a pizza with a lots of topping, to rich and to complicated. So I minimize the topping of my pizzas that I bake.   My ‘As you like it Pizza,  was a pizza with meat, anchovies and cheese topping.

No it is not the same what we had pizza in Italy, but before our visit the country, I cooked the pizza with more topping and more cheeses too.  The pizza base  in not very thin, it was thick, soft and fluffy.  The combinations of light tomato sauce, anchovies, black olives, sliced Italian meat balls and cheese for the topping, was so Delicious

It is all about home cooking, Delicious food and Delicious Flavours.  Use fresh ingredients, prepare with care and love.

Susi Pizza Dough Recipe

The dough is doubled after 1 hour proofing

The Dough
2 cups full plain flour
2 teaspoons dried yeast
3/4 cup warm water
1 teaspoon sugar, a pinch of salt and some oil.
Place the flour in a large bowl, make a whole in the centre then plce the yeast, sugar, salt on it
Pour in the warm water, oil, in the centre the mix them together to make soft dough
Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth about 5 minutes
Place the dough onto oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap and proof it for 1 hour or more until doubled
Punch the dough down, knead it lightly.  The dough is ready for further use.

Quick Bread

A moist and delicious quick bread,  is a family treat and also very easy to prepare.  These are what you need, flour, egg, cheeses, yoghurt,  zucchini, pumpkin and oil or margarine. I baked it for my family and it was so delightful.  The recipe is for you to try.

Quick Bread With Cheese.

1 1/2 cup flour and a pinch of salt
1 tablespoon Parmesan cheese
100 g Feta cheese, diced
1/2 cup grated zucchini and pumpkin
1 egg
1/2 cup milk and 1 tablespoon yoghurt
1/4 cup olive oil


Heat the oven to 190 degrees C

Place the flour in a large bowl
Add in all ingredients accept the diced Feta cheese
Mix together quickly to make a soft mixture-drop spoon consistency
Add in the diced Feta, fold in gently
Pour the mixture onto a lined small round tin
Bake in the preheated oven for 25  minutes

While the oven was going, I did other baking.  I baked mini chocolate cake and individual ricotta and egg pies.

Vegetables and Salads are always at our table.  It is so good to have a vegetables patch in the backyard.  The lettuces have been great, they are  so fresh and crisps.  I have to admit though that I do shop other vegetables that I need in the market.

Baking and Sharing

Often I share my baking with friends, and also with community.  Having tea and sweet after playing sports is a good idea but we have to be careful about what we are going to eat.  I think fresh -baked scones are suitable for the occasion.  I baked very nutritious pumpkin scones and fruit scones for our sport club.   Both were dressed with pumpkin jam and sprinkle with almonds flakes.  They looked so beautiful, festive and tasted so delicious.  People loved and enjoyed the scones.

Recipe for pumpkin scones, susi’s recipe.

Pumpkin Scones

2 cups full self raising flour
50 g butter
3/4 cup pumpkin puree
1/2 cup milk or a little more


Heat the oven up to 200 degrees C

Rub the butter with flour thoroughly
Add in the pumpkin puree and the milk at once.  Mix together to make soft dough
Add in more milk if the dough is not soft enough
Knead lightly, then roll into 1 cm thickness
Cut with scone dough cutter, put them onto buttered tin
Bake in the preheated oven for 13 minutes, if you make small scones bake them for 10 minutes.

Cut the scones in halves, buttered and put some pumpkin jam, sprinkle with almonds and pistachio flakes

I could not help it, I garnish my offering with herbs and also flowers, for savouries or sweet.   The plates look good that way and also the food.

From The Garden To The Kictchen

Fresh vegetables, salad green from the garden are essential for our daily need. I enjoy to pick the fresh produce and preparing, cooking  them for the family, and of course not to forget that I love  fresh cut flowers from my garden for inside the house.

Today was freshly picked zucchini for curry and garlic chives for my special pancake with herbs.  Some pictures are here, but no recipes.  I must post them one day.

Egg curry with meat balls and zucchini, a delicious mixed meat, egg and vegetables curry, and it is so delicious to be served with just  plain steamed white rice.  Serve hot for lunch or dinner.
