Cymbidiums and Citruses
My collection of cymbidium orchids are blooming right now. I posted the budding cymbidiums previously, but one of them was not the cascading Sarah Jane. I made a mistake, it ‘s a brownish small cascading cymbidium, but I am so proud to say that the plant has 10 spikes, and one of the stems is 95 cm long with 28 flowers.
It is not Sarah Jane cascading orchid
but a mini brownish cascading cymbidium (right picture)
Other Flowering Cymbidium Orchids
A few orchids are still in buds, and I think within four weeks they will open up to beautiful flowers. The two orchids are of pink colour but I am not sure about the others. Some of the flowers will be in vases instead taking the whole plants in the house, arrangement of fresh cut orchids can last for a long time.
It has been a good year for the orchids apparently, I learnt from friends who have orchids plants.
I will keep you up to date when the rest of the orchids are in full blooms.
The Citrus In My Garden.
Lime and lemon fruits are just about finished, they did well this year, some flowers started to appear again. The mandarin fruits start turning yellow, it is almost harvest time. The pomelo fruits are getting larger each day, there are nine of them on the tree. I found two large pomelo fruits on the ground because of the strong wind last week. The tree is not mature yet, but in a few years time it is going to be, and I hope it is producing better fruits. I cut and peeled one of them, the flesh of the fruit is not as bitter as last year’s.
Pomelo for 2013
I am glad to have the pomelo tree, it is very easy to care for, only it needs regular feeding as for other citrus trees.
Recipes for pomelo is next time, stay tuned.
